City Beach

City Beach is just eight kilometres west of Perth and is a popular attraction to Perth locals and visitors for its waves, golden sand and leafy parks and reserves.

City Beach history

The beach came into being after Perth City Council purchased area between the Endowment Lands and the City in 1917, known as the Lime Kilns Estate, to connect Perth city with the beach.

Now, people come far and wide to swim in City Beach's surf, enjoy its parks and eat in its restaurants.

The surf is so good that most of the National Surf Lifesaving carnivals are held at City Beach.

The water is also used for locals to unwind on the weekends and in the evenings for fishing. Children love the playground and families can relax and use the BBQs in City Beach's picnic area.

City Beach outdoor activities

Bushwalkers will want to do the Coastal Walk and cyclists will want to make sure they do the Cycle Way. Both routes start at City Beach and wind up to Hillary's Boat Harbour. There's also the Scenic Coastal Route, which begins at City Beach and extends up the coast.

City Beach restaurants

If you want to have a special night out, enjoy City Beach's eateries such as Oceanus Restaurant, with delicious fresh food for everyone.

While you're at City Beach, you can also enjoy its aquatic centre, a cappuccino from the local cafe, and refreshments from the kiosk for a relaxing time.
